Inlays and onlays are partial crowns that do not cover the entire portion of the exposed tooth. They sit like a key or puzzle piece between the ridges of your restored tooth. The procedure is the same as outlined for crowns and they can also be designed by the CEREC system.

The difference between an inlay and an onlay is that an onlay covers at least one of your tooth's ridges while an inlay sits between them and covers only the middle portion of your tooth. They serve the same purpose as a crown. They are used so as keep you with as much of your natural tooth as possible.
